Biography for Michael A. Jenkins

Dr. Jenkins is an Associate Professor of Forest Ecology in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Purdue University.  He received a B.S. in Botany and Environmental Biology from Eastern Illinois University in 1989, a M.S. in Forestry from the University of Missouri in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Forest Biology from Purdue University in 1998. Prior to joining the Purdue faculty in 2008, he worked for ten years as a vegetation ecologist for the National Park Service. His teaching appointment includes undergraduate and graduate courses in ecosystem science and disturbance ecology. His research program focuses on the role of disturbance in forest ecosystems and the ecological effects of invasive species. Dr. Jenkins has trained three Ph.D. students and 10 M.S. students. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters.
